Migrating from cPanel
Cito is designed to support migration from other control panels, most notably cPanel. Below are some guidelines on how to bring sites over to Prostack.
Managed migration
We offer a managed migration service to all customers. Please contact support if you would like us to assist with migrating your sites to Prostack Cito.
Migrating Wordpress sites
To migrate a Wordpress site to Cito you can also use a plugin like WP All In One Migration.
You will need to create a new Wordpress site on your cito server first, then follow the plugin instructions to backup the site at your old host and import it into Cito.
Manual migration
If you wish to perform a migration yourself, the steps are broadly as follows:
- Set up the domain name on Cito- where possible, we recommend using the same username as the old server.
- Copy the site's files (from
public_html
). This can be done via SFTP or Rsync. - Copy the site's MySQL database using a tool such as MySQLdump to create a compressed file. You can then import this into an empty database on your Cito server.
- Copy any cron jobs that may exist.
- Test using a preview URL.
- Go live by modifying DNS. This generally involves changing your website's A record to point to your Cito server's IP, which can be found in the dashboard.
